Control Methods for Robotics Applications 7.5 credits

About the course

This course covers algorithms and methods that are common in control of mechanical systems such as PID control, force control, geometric non-linear control, sliding-mode control, and passivity based control.
The course is divided into four parts:
1. Theory, 4.0 ECTS.
The theory part aims to broaden the knowledge and significantly enhanced the expertise in control of mechanical systems.
2. Labs, 1.5 ECTS.
This part consists of a number of exercises that are designed to increase the understanding of control of mechanical systems. The lab work consists of implementing, applying theory, and to reflect on and interpret results and data.
3. Seminar, 0.5 ECTS.
This part consists of critically analyze, present, and evaluate research. The student is also trained in the ability to critically evaluate their own and others' work. Oral presentation feedback is provided through an evaluation matrix.
4. Project, 1.5 ECTS.
In this part the student will independently carry out a small project, and work towards project requirements formulated by a client. The client and supervisor of the project may be the same person.
