Research group Our main research focus is to unravel molecular mechanisms ensuring β-cell function. Our research efforts involves analyses of the molecular mechanisms by which hyperglycemia negatively affects β-cell function and provokes impaired insulin secretion and amyloid formation. We are also analyzing the mechanisms by which the compound O304/ATX-304, an activator of AMPK and a mitochondrial uncoupler, negates the negative impacts of hyperglycemia on β-cell function and thus restores β-cell function.
