I am a doctoral student with a research focus on organic carbon burial and mineralization in boreal lakes. With the aid of established techniques in paleolimnology and most notably Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, we track organic matter composition and transformation from source to burial. In doing this, we hope to improve our understanding of organic carbon burial in northern lakes and their role as carbon sinks under a changing climate.
