I am a researcher in Linguistics with a focus on Nordic languages.
In my doctoral dissertation, I examined the representation of Otherness in the Old West Norse Íslendingaþættir and Íslendingasögur. Drawing on methods from cognitive semantics, literary studies, and socio-onomastics, I explored how different forms of Otherness are expressed in the literature to enhance our understanding of medieval Icelandic society and its cultural manifestations.
I am also interested in Otherness and Othering in other literary and non-literary contexts, as well as in how popular culture functions as an expression of identity and world-building.
