Sophie is universitetslektor (Assistant Professor) in Management and Section Coordinator for the Management Section of the Department of Business Administration.
My research explores how people navigate, make sense of, and contribute to challenging organizational situations and contexts. One area of interest is trauma. To date, I have published research on how trauma encountered in the field matters for the production of knowledge, and I am currently exploring how trauma is performed and re-enacted in organizations. A second interest is in professions and occupations. I am currently exploring how members of occupational communities navigate value dilemmas in their interactions with clients, as well as how occupational members navigate difficulties in delegating responsibility. In addition to these empirical projects, I'm also developing a conceptual paper that explains when and why people withdraw from organizational inclusion initiatives.
Currently, I co-lead a research project on leadership and leader identity in the Swedish Police, which is supported with three years of funding from the Swedish Research Council. My research has previously received funding from the National Science Foundation in the United States.
I employ qualitative methods (interviews, participant observation, fieldwork), and draw on several conceptual lenses (performance theory, care theory, sociology of work and occupations) to generate novel insights into these topics.
