FlickForsk! is a multidisciplinary network aimed at gathering and advancing Nordic girlhood studies by creating meeting spaces and opportunities for collaboration among researchers who study young femininity from various perspectives, primarily within the humanities and social sciences.
Since its inception in 2008, the network has initiated and carried out a range of events and publication projects of both Nordic and international scope. The network also organizes an annual conference on different themes, with the aim of bringing together researchers and disseminating the latest research in the field. Another central activity within the network is serving as an expert resource and collaborative partner for various actors and organizations seeking the expertise available within the network.
During its first years of operation, 2008–2014, the network was affiliated with the Forum for Gender Studies at Mid Sweden University. From 2015 to 2021, FlickForsk! was based at the Umeå Centre for Gender Studies at Umeå University, and from 2022 to 2024 at the Department of Social Work at Örebro University. The network is now once again hosted by the Umeå Centre for Gender Studies at Umeå University and has a steering group currently coordinated by Linda Arnell and Agnes Hamberger from Umeå University and Uppsala University. Over the years, the steering group has included members from various universities and academic institutions in Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
The steering group now consists of the following researchers:
Linda Arnell, Umeå University, coordinator Agnes Hamberger, Uppsala University, coordinator Anna-Karin Larsson, Örebro University Maria Andersson Vogel, Stockholm University Caroline Bergström, Gothenburg University Magdalena Sjöberg, Örebro University
