The Unit of Police Work invites you to celebrate its 25th anniversary on Friday, November 14, with an inspiring afternoon in Rotundan.
The jubilee will feature several prominent guests from the police force and academia. Among the speakers are Sweden’s National Police Commissioner Petra Lundh and Gunnar Appelgren, Detective Chief Inspector at the Swedish Police Authority.

For 25 years, the Unit of Police Work at Umeå University has been a leading force in the development of Swedish police education and research in the field of policing. Supported by the police science research conducted at the unit over many years, Umeå University became the first higher education institution in Sweden to establish Police Work as an academic discipline at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The university was also the first to award both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in the subject. Now, we are taking the next step by becoming the first in the Nordic region to offer doctoral education in police science.
The 25th anniversary marks a milestone that highlights both the unit’s history and its long-term commitment to strengthening research, education, and the professional field of policing.
