Bouwinvest Real Estate Investors has invested $60m (鈧�50m) in Blackstone鈥檚 US medical real estate investment trust BioMed Realty.
Bouwinvest, which invests internationally on behalf of Dutch pension fund BpfBouw, said it participated in Blackstone鈥檚 recapitalisation of BioMed Realty, a company which owns a US portfolio in core life science markets.
Blackstone recently disclosed in its earnings statement that it had raised $7.5bn for its new life science office real estate perpetual vehicle.

鈥淥ur investment not only provides an attractive long-term return for Dutch pensioners but also helps facilitate important medical research.鈥�
Bouwinvest, which has a target to grow its North American portfolio to $2bn by 2022, said the portfolio currently stands at $1.65bn.
鈥淏ouwinvest sees additional long-term opportunities in affordable housing, single-family rentals and logistics in North America, as well as in alternative segments including life science office and data centres,鈥� the Dutch investor said.
