Intellihub Group, backed by Brookfield and Pacific Equity Partners (PEP). has bought the Australian and New Zealand electric vehicle (EV) charging network of French global energy and services group, Engie.
The investment undertaken by an Intellihub company, EVSE, for an undisclosed sum, has added more than 200 new locations to its rapidly growing national footprint of fast-charge technology in high-traffic sites in Melbourne, Sydney and other key locations in Australia.
Intellihub has also entered a commercial partnership with Engie to accelerate the roll-out of a suite of smart-energy devices that allow for better monitoring and management of household electricity.
EVSE鈥檚 CEO, Brendan Wheeler, said: 鈥淭his transaction is a critical piece in the puzzle of delivering seamless charging access at home, at work and on the road.鈥�
Wheeler said the acquisition would widen the availability of its EV charging network in Australia to more users.

鈥淲e know that one in three Aussie homes now have rooftop solar, with more than 300,000 new rooftop solar systems being installed each year, and more than 28% of rooftop solar installations were being combined with a battery in the second half of last year.鈥�
Shannon Hyde, Engie ANZ CEO, said that the venture aligned strongly with Engie鈥檚 commitment to the clean energy transition, adding that the consumer-led energy revolution was set to accelerate in the next 5-10 years, with customers seeking new technology to help reduce their energy bills.
