The Renewables Infrastructure Group (TRIG) is acquiring the right to develop three battery storage sites in the North of England.
The London-listed investment company advised by InfraRed Capital Partners is buying two projects scheduled for operations in 2024 and 2025, and a third site, which has an 85MW capacity will be built in 2029 or at an earlier date.
TRIG said the sites have been acquired from Aura Power Developments.
TRIG said once the first two projects are built, the investment will represent approximately 4% of the value of the firm鈥檚 portfolio.
Richard Crawford, of InfraRed Capital Partners, said: 鈥淕reater deployment of flexible capacity and renewable generation are crucial components in addressing energy security, decarbonisation and energy affordability.
鈥淔or TRIG, the addition of battery storage into an already diversified generation portfolio further reduces revenue variability, and draws on the deep expertise of InfraRed and RES of investing in and delivering development-stage projects.鈥
