Marcus Sperber, BlackRock鈥檚 former global real estate head, has joined as a consultant and chair of strategic investment advisory board.
CBRE said Sperber will join the newly created role within the investment advisory business, led by Graeme Rutter and part of Capital Advisors. CBRE鈥檚 strategic investment advisory board 鈥 formerly known as the investment advisory committee 鈥 will provide governance across all investment advisory client mandates to review strategy, investment performance and ensure consistency across its client accounts.
Sperber stepped down from his role at BlackRock in 2019 and has recently launched NorthCroft Capital, a property investment firm.
Prior to his global real estate head role at BlackRock, Sperber was head of the EMEA real estate business and was formerly the portfolio manager of BlackRock鈥檚 UK property fund. He joined Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in 2002, prior to its merger with BlackRock in 2006.
Sperber was recently appointed to the boards of Canadian real estate firm Cadillac Fairview and Fiera Real Estate Investments as a non-executive director and independent director respectively.
Graeme Rutter, executive director and the head of investment advisory at CBRE, said Sperber鈥檚 addition to the new strategic investment advisory board will add an extra dimension to CBRE鈥檚 strategic advisory board to the significant benefit of the firm鈥檚 clients.
Sperber said: 鈥淚 am delighted to be invited to Chair the new Strategic Investment Advisory Board within Investment Advisory. This is a unique opportunity for me to use my experience working alongside the exceptional talent that sits within CBRE and help enable long- term and excellent performance for their clients.鈥
